There is so much to do in Lake Tahoe.  Of course most people usually think of skiing and snowboarding when they think of Lake Tahoe in the winter and boating and water-skiing in the summer.  What makes Lake Tahoe such a great destination is that there is so much more to do than what you might expect!  November alone has 5 don’t-miss events alone!

Spirit of Artown Festival

Spirit of Artown – Artown is a nationally acclaimed festival held annually in July in Reno.  The event draws hundreds of thousands of visitors.  Because of its huge success, Reno has decided to stage a few encore performances through out the year and call it the Spirit of Artown.

Pilobolus’ Shadowland Show

Pilobolus Shadowland Show in North Lake TahoeThis year on November 20, 2009 Pilobolus will be performing in this encore series.  Pilobolus (pronounced pill-Ah-bolus) is a modern dance company known for its athleticism, ingenuity and creativity.  You may have seen their performances in Ford and Bidvest commercials.  Their latest show is called Shadowland.  Here’s a preview of their talents:

Sparks Turkey Trot - Lake Tahoe

Sparks Turkey Trot – Every Thanksgiving morning at the Sparks Marina Park there is 2-mile walk/run and a 10k (6.2 mile) run.  The event benefits local charities and participants receive a commemorative sweatshirt and post race refreshments.  The action starts at 8:30am.  For more information, call 775.353.7898.

Northstar Jazz Concerts

Northstar Lake Tahoe Resort presents Gerardo BalestrieriGerardo Balestrieri Concert at Northstar at Tahoe Resort – Saturday November 28, 2009 from 2pm to 5pm, Gerardo Balestrieri will be performing a free concert on the Village Stage.  Balestrieri is known for his deep baritone voice and accordion and clarinet playing.  His website says that he, “loves to joke with words without forgetting rhythm and dance.” Visit his MySpace page for a sample of his music.

Lake Tahoe Jazz Festival with Chris BottiLake Tahoe Holiday Jazz Festival – The Hyatt at Incline Village is hosting the 9th annual Holiday Jazz Festival November 26 and 27.  Artists performing include Bobby Caldwell, Peter White, Rick Braun and Mindi Abair. Film Festival at Squaw Valley

Lunafest Film Festival at Squaw Valley Lake TahoeLunafest Film Festival at Squaw Valley – November 14, Girls on the Run Sierras is hosting the Lunafest film festival featuring short films by and about women.  Proceeds benefit the Breast Cancer Fund and Girls on the Run, Sierras.  Girls on the Run is an organization that educates and prepares 3rd through 8th graders for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.
